At Koutouki Zempereki, the table is an invitation. At Koutouki Zempereki, the table is an invitation. A meze tavern in Moschato with 30 years of history, since 1998, housed in a building constructed in 1949, filled with stories, family heirlooms and aromas that feel like home.
In 1997, we made a decision: the house where our family grew up would open its doors to everyone. And so, Zempereki was born. A place that feels like a traditional koutouki because that is exactly what it is: our home.
Our building has a construction permit issued by the king himself, dated 09-02-1949. Its walls have absorbed decades of aromas, laughter and shared moments. The moment you step inside, you immediately understand that time moves more slowly here.
The decoration was not designed; it was gathered over time. Every object on the wall once belonged to the family and carries its own story. The feeling is rustic and warm, like visiting a relative you have not seen in a long time.
In our kitchen, Mrs. Georgia and Mrs. Maria do the cooking. Mothers and grandmothers who cook the way they know best: for family. Constantinople-style liver, fresh hand-cut potatoes, meatballs, fava with onion and lemon, cabbage rolls with fresh minced meat, bekri meze, soutzoukakia in tomato sauce. Authentic Greek recipes, cooked from scratch, every day.
Zempereki is now living its third generation. From grandmother to grandchildren, the philosophy has remained the same: the ingredients matter just as much as the love that goes into the cooking. The olive oil comes from the village, the meat from small family farms. Nothing changes in a recipe when you know where it began.
Thirty years later, people return for the same reason they came the first time.
